"Have you ever seen the shows on the Discovery Channel about sea creatures that have just been discovered but have existed for thousands of years? I wonder why God created them when no one has been able to enjoy them. And then I realize God himself has been enjoying them." from The Jesus of Suburbia by Mike Erre
And I wonder - when no one else sees me or what I'm doing, is God enjoying watching me? Do I bring Him pleasure? We won't all be world-changers, leaders of major ministries, authors of well-known books or history-making missionaries but we can all live with faith and joy before our Father and delight Him as He watches us.

Hi Joni . . .loved this blog . . .particularly since I've always wanted to be a world-changer, leader of a ministry, author of a well-known book, AND history-making missionary . . .but lately I've realized underlying all those desires is my deepest desire - to be a delight to God and to know that He is pleased with me, even when no one else is watching. I also found a beautiful verse last night that I wanted to share with you - Hosea 2:16 - "'It will come about in that day, 'declares the LORD, 'That you will call Me Ishi and will no longer call Me Baali.'" The word "Ishi" means "husband", and the word "Baali" means "master" or "Baal" . . .so the type of relationship God longs to have with me is not that of a distant and harsh master or an inanimate idol, but the intimacy of a deep love relationship as if He is my husband . . .this touched me more deeply than I can express. I love you!
