Grateful for the choice

I don't think I've ever quite realized how blessed I am to live in a time and in a country where social customs and/or financial need do not determine my marital opportunities or choices. Yesterday I went with a friend to see "Becoming Jane", a wonderful movie (despite being a bit inappropriate in a couple of places) and also rather tragic. Apparently, circumstances prevented Jane from marrying the great love of her life. And I'm left thinking how grateful I am to be single and free to choose.
